Kirah Van Sickle
Kirah is an award-winning illustrator, graphic designer and
painter, formally trained as a specialist in medical and biological
illustration. She is the owner and creative director of Animania,
LLC, a creative consulting company that previously provided
illustration services for education, marketing, patent law and
currently focuses on commissioned fine art. Her various uses
of traditional and digital media and subject matter is an
outgrowth of her interest in natural science and a love for travel.
Fine art works include exploration in abstract landscape and
environmental issues and are strongly rooted in color and
composition. Her illustrations have been published in textbooks,
professional journals, interactive educational programs, and
her fine art is held in private collections throughout the U.S.
and Denmark.
A native North Carolinian, Kirah and her husband currently
reside in the Reno-Lake Tahoe area of northern Nevada. Kirah's
educational background includes undergraduate science and
art degrees from Duke University, art study at the North Carolina
State School of Design and a master's degree in Medical
Illustration from the Medical College of Georgia.
Most recently, Kirah worked as interim art director for the Office
of Marketing and Communications at the University of Nevada-
Reno. She has been selected as a volunteer painting instructor
for the 2007 Yosemite Association Summer Arts program. Her
work can be seen locally in various juried exhibitions and
shows and she is an exhibiting member of the Catherine
Bouwer Gallery in Reno, Nevada, Nelson Fine Arts Gallery in
Lexington, Virginia, East Fork Gallery in Gardnerville, NV, a
member of the Association of Medical Illustrators and the Guild
of Natural Science Illustrators.
