Artist Statement
The atmospheres created by life’s always changing flow and resounding perfection are the foundation of my painting. Often I look to the color, light and form of nature to create the mold for the ‘feel’ of a particular painting. My technique is a free flowing and non-judging process, and I am always challenging myself to move past my traditional perspective where every color and line has to be perfect. I have learned through my painting how perfect imperfection truly is. I keep this in mind not only when I paint but as I move through the ebb and flow of each day inside relationships, communication, passions and challenges. The process of painting for me is like journaling, and my intentions through doing so are to not only allow a gateway for the processing of my emotions and life experience, but also aesthetically engage the mind and body and further evoke emotion.
My technique relies not only on brushes and palette knives to transfer paint to my canvas, but also upon sponges, eating utensils, even hairbrushes, to create my art.
Faith Peabody is working toward her B.A. at the University of Nevada, Reno, majoring in art, with an emphasis in photography and painting.
