David Dory

David Dory was born in Carson City, the state capital of Nevada, on August 15, 1963 the second son of Wilfred and Gwendolyn Dory.
At the age of five years old, his talent for drawing and painting had developed to the point of recognition by his first teachers. With an extremely active imagination and the desire of always wanting to be the center of attention, his passion to paint became second nature. David Dory’s unique talent for art lead to his drawing at a very early age. By the time he had reached seven years old, he won a first prize in a local art contest, and by the age of ten had received an honorable mention in a national show. This seemed to have little impact on him, as he put it
“I was just doing what I liked to do”.
Most of his childhood was spent in Nevada and Utah. As a child he was a dreamer. He would spend hours wandering in the desserts looking for arrow heads that had been lost in times past.
From 1990 when David first visited the San Francisco as an adult , he was driven by a passion to place himself in a forum of competition where he could have the chance to learn the workings of the art world first hand from an international standpoint. In 1992 David moved to San Francisco, hanging on to the feeling that it would be from this location, he would start to build his success.
Although David has a degree in art, he is self taught, and has been selling his work professionally from the time he was sixteen.
His originality is characterized by the uniqueness reflected in his paintings. The majority share the same style of contours constructed in technique that leads to smooth waves of sand dunes, where the transformation of the figure(s) blend in an extraordinary manner.
People all have dreams and they like to fantasize, but at the same time retain a link to this world. And that is exactly what we find in his paintings. Individualistic expression separates his art into a new dimension, where imagination and realism come together inducing nostalgic, realistic and even exotic or erotic interpretations from everyone that takes that extra second to indulge themselves in the worlds he has made possible for us to see.
He has acquired collectors from Europe, Australia, Japan, South America, Central America and the United States.
David Dory’s work is very unique and individualistic, drawing a line to begin a new style in the world of contemporary art. (Omnistic) His exceptional contribution to the world can not be ignored.
